Derbyshire Hill Skills Weekend

Do you want to increase your confidence in the outdoors? Want to be able to take yourself and others on epic walks in the countryside?

Adventure Queens Derbyshire is hosting a Mountain Training-accredited Hill Skills weekend in the Peak District, targeted at women and non-binary folks with no or very little experience of map reading.

**Please note you need to apply for a place on this course**

We would especially like to encourage you to apply if you are Black, Asian or belong to another ethnic minority group under-represented in the outdoors. Anyone is welcome to apply but priority will be given to these applicants.

Upon completion of this action-packed and fun-filled course you’ll know how to plan a walk, keep yourself safe and use a map and compass. If you decide you want to take your learning further, the course also fulfils Mountain Training’s requirements to attend Lowland Leader training. There’s no obligation or expectation to complete further training, but if a formal walk leader qualification is something that interests you, the Hill Skills course is a fantastic opportunity and great place to start. More info will be given about this on the course.

The Hill Skills course will be delivered by a female instructor from Beyond The Edge, alongside Mountain Leader Jessie Leong.

Places are free (funded by Derbyshire County Council’s Action Grant scheme, and with additional support from Beyond The Edge) but are limited, and there will be a selection process if we are oversubscribed. Your place is not confirmed until you receive a confirmatory email.
