At a Crossroads? Join our residential weekend for women in life transition

Jul 29, 2026 | Adventure Queens

Are you standing at a crossroads in your life – unsure which way to turn next? This October, Adventure Queens is inviting 12 women to step into nature for a weekend of walking, reflection, and support.

Taking place from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th October 2026 in the heart of the Peak District, this residential weekend is for women navigating life changes – such as divorce, career shifts, recovering from burnout, or adjusting to life with or after children.

Set at YHA Edale, the weekend will combine guided walks, outdoor coaching, and time for reflection, offering a supportive space to pause, connect, and consider the path ahead. Using principles from life coaching and wilderness therapeutic practices, the programme draws on the natural environment – weather, landscape, terrain – as a mirror for change, uncertainty and new beginnings.

This weekend is about creating space to breathe, to reflect, and to recognise that you’re not alone at the junction you’re facing

Participants will be guided by two trained facilitators – a wilderness therapeutic practitioner and a life coach, both Hill & Moorland leaders – through a weekend designed to gently build confidence and clarity.

Expect:

  • Guided walks through the Peak District landscape, with coaching prompts, reflection activities, and opportunities to pause and connect with nature
  • A mix of group discussion, solo reflection time, and optional one-to-one coaching conversations
  • Guided prompts and activities to encourage reflection and help you explore what comes next
  • Shared meals and relaxed evenings together
  • A warm, supportive, and inclusive environment

The walks are an important part of the weekend: we will be outdoors and moving for most of the day, with regular built in breaks. They are not just gentle strolls, but opportunities to spend meaningful time outdoors while reflecting on your own journey. Participants should be prepared for walks of approximately 3–6 miles per day, including uphill sections, uneven ground, and typical Peak District terrain. You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, and we won’t be moving quickly, but you should feel comfortable walking for several hours and being outdoors for most of the weekend.

You can read about last years programme in this article.

We only require a £46 contribution from participants, as the cost of the weekend is heavily subsidised by the YHA. Two travel bursaries of £50 are also available to help with travel costs for those who need it.

We particularly encourage applications from women who wouldn’t normally be able to access something like this – including those on lower incomes, from culturally diverse backgrounds, or who may be feeling isolated.

Women aged 18 and up are welcome to apply. We’ll select participants based on how much they might benefit from the weekend at this moment in their lives.

Afterwards, you’ll be supported to continue your journey – with follow-up connection, encouragement to get outdoors regularly, and access to the wider Adventure Queens community across the UK. ok

Important practical information

The programme includes one night’s accommodation at YHA Edale (Saturday night only). Participants will need to arrange their own travel to arrive in time for the start of the programme on Saturday morning (approx 9:30am) and make their own arrangements if they need accommodation the night before. We expect to finish by 4pm on the Sunday.

Last year, some participants arranged lifts and car sharing between themselves, and we’ll help connect successful applicants so they can explore travel options together if they wish.

Accommodation provided as part of the programme is in shared bunkrooms at YHA Edale. We’re not able to provide private rooms, but we can work with the venue to accommodate specific needs where possible (for example, smaller shared rooms where available). If you would prefer to arrange alternative accommodation nearby, you are welcome to do so at your own cost.

You can find accessibility information for YHA Edale here. Please note that some of the acommodation at YHA Edale does have quite a few steps. If you have any concerns or questions about this please get in touch.

Before applying, please check that you are available all of 3rd-4th October, can travel to and from Edale within the required timeframe and that the accommodation arrangements work for you.
