2024/2025 Adventure Queens Grant Winners

Jan 10, 2025 | Adventure Queen Grant

In 2017, we were over the moon to be able to launch the Adventure Queens Grant – our little way of supporting members of our community to set out on their first big adventure. We are delighted to be able to offer it again for it’s 8th year!

The Adventure Queens Grant

The Adventure Queen Grant supports three intrepid women to take on a human-powered, boundary-pushing, life-changing adventure through providing funding, kit and mentoring. One of our grant spots is allocated to a woman wanting to use their proposed adventure to connect with nature as part of our Jessi Tucker Memorial Grant.

Jessi was our longest serving Adventure Queens Volunteer – working closely with our founders to make this amazing community what it is today. She was a woman with many talents – a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society with a range of expeditions under her belt: a poet; an emergency medicine doctor; an award-winning writer and to us, a real champion of the Adventure Queens. Jessi was a great lover of nature – she rests under a beautiful oak tree in Surrey.

This year three our winners will receive:

  • £100 cash to spend on their adventure (flights, kit, jelly babies – whatever they need)
  • £300 worth of kit from long-standing AQ supporters, Osprey
  • £250 worth of kit from outdoor kit experts, Alpkit
  • a premium subscription and training from the lovely folks at komoot
  • one tasty meal per day of the adventure from TentMeals
  • a pair of Vallon sunglasses (because we’re forever optimistic about the weather); and
  • an Adventure Queen mentor who will guide, support and cheerlead!

2024/25 winners

We had almost 100 applications for the 2024/25 Adventure Queens Grant (a MASSIVE thank you to those that applied as well as our panel of judges!).

Drum roll please….

We are thrilled to introduce our three wonderful winners:

Siobhan Fanning

Siobhan plans a 12-day solo pilgrimage along the Cornish Celtic Way in Summer 2025, covering 20 km daily. Living with Sjogren’s Syndrome, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis, she’ll wild camp, embrace wild swimming, and use yoga to manage her health while seeking healing, peace, and personal growth. Siobhan hopes this incredible journey will demonstrate the power of a ‘can-do’ attitude and focusing on what’s possible, inspiring others to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.

Molly Harris

Molly plans to bike solo from London to Nordkapp, Europe’s northernmost point, in summer 2025. Over six weeks, she’ll cover 5,000 km, cycling through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Norway, crossing the Arctic Circle on her way to Nordkapp. She aims to arrive in late July, balancing rest days and weather along the way.

Sumayya Kasuji

Sumayya plans a solo, two-week journey along the Arran Coastal Way in Summer 2025, combining wild camping and campsites. She’ll explore local wildlife, learn snorkeling with COAST, and paint daily watercolours, immersing herself in nature’s beauty.

We’ll be sharing more info on Siobhan, Molly and Sumayya’s plans and adventures on our Facebook groupInstagram and blog over the coming months so stay tuned!

The 2025/26 Adventure Queens Grant

If you missed out on applying for the 2024/2025 Adventure Queens Grant, or applied and didn’t get through, don’t let that deter you! We’ll be launching the 2025/2026 Adventure Queens Grant later this year, for the next group of badass women looking to kick start a big adventure in 2026. So, start brainstorming (think human-powered, boundary-pushing) and keep your eyes peeled for more information!
