AQ Film Club: Surf’s Up feat. Kadiatu Kamara

Directors Daniel Ali and Louis Leeson’s latest film, Surf’s Up, is a portrait of 19-year-old surfer Kadiatu Kamara, aka KK, who is the only woman surfer at Bureh Beach, south of Freetown—and, it is claimed, the only woman surfer in Sierra Leone. KK unexpectedly excels at a sport that has traditionally been associated only with men and this beautiful 7-minute film showcases her story.
